GREENSBORO — Will Jones’s work in a 19-game auditioning act as the North Carolina A&T interim men’s basketball coach has helped land him the permanent position moving forward.

Jones officially was introduced as N.C. A&T’s new coach in a ceremony Tuesday after leading a turnaround of the Aggies last season, when he was promoted to the top position midway through the campaign.

“I am delighted to see coach Jones get this opportunity,” N.C. A&T athletics director Earl Hilton said in a statement. “Will did a wonderful job last season of keeping our men’s basketball team focused on success on the court and in the classroom, so we know he is committed to creating a championship culture while also making sure our student-athletes graduate and are prepared to be positive contributors to society.”
